Dan was born in 1979 in Gloucester Royal Hospital. In 2004 he had a civil service filing job. He woke up one morning and decided that he didn't like his life anymore, and chose to leave everything and start a more positive and risky lifestyle in Plymouth, the city where his father was born. It was here that he 'became' an artist, starting painting in oils and developing concepts that he had already started to explore in his independent films. In 2005 he enrolled on a course at Plymouth College of Art and Design, where he expanded his academic understanding, winning the Doris Gerrard scholarship in 2007, achieving first degree hons in Fine Art Practices in 2008. A one off episode of Dan's popular radio show Goblin Pie will be broadcast on Friday 20th from 4-6pm, more details to follow!

Dan is currently painting and exhibiting his work every Sunday between 12 and 6pm at the Mayflower Steps, Plymouth Barbican as part of the Cobbles Market.

This summer Dan taught painting and art history sessions for YPAC in association with Plymouth Arts Centre.

Dan is very proud to be a finallist in this years John Moore Contemporary Painting Prize held in the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool

Dan's painting 'Fumble' has been selected to go in the House of Fraser Window Gallery from 25th May - 8th June

Thunder Spider, the first signing to Dan's record label Petley's Fashionable Recordings will be releasing a new album called A Spanner in the Works on 16th April

On 15th March Dan gave the Bladder Stick squire position to another young hopeful morris dancer after a year of hard work. Good luck to them!

From 8th February - 8th March, Dan painted 28 postcard sized self portraits, one a day, sending them to himself via the postal service as a way to sign and date them. The finished piece is called 'Postcards Home'.

From August 7th - September 6th 2009 Dan's sound art piece for the Cafe Concrete Plymouth City Project played downstairs in Plymouth Arts Centre. He appeared on the Cafe Concrete radio programme for a live session on Monday August 17th. www.freesound.org.uk

Dan has formed a morris dancing side called Bladder Stick. We practice in the Doliphin inn, Plymouth Barbican on Mondays from 8pm til closing time. First live performance was Mayflower Steps Massacre, Saturday 18th 2009 at 8am, at which we raised £5.10 For more information click here

On 8th December 2008, Dan's collaboration with Liono, a film called 'Central Park Allotments' was screened in Plymouth Arts Centre. Dan and Liono headlined the performance evening that followed.

From 2nd December 2008, Dan's reproduction of Brion Gysin's Dream Machine will be operational in the Chestnut Tree Cafe.

From 17th November – 6th January 2009, Dan’s new series of Gutter Bling ‘Kindered Spirits’ will be showing at the Victoria Sewart Gallery of Contemporary Jewellery at Plymouth Barbican. For more information click here
