I
Had Too Much to Dream Last Night 20/2/09
Last
night your shadow fell upon my lonely room
I touched your golden hair and tasted your perfume
My mind had formed your ghost a vivid fantasy
The void your true form did not breach it had enraptured me
Talking with passion to this wraith my mind let grow
I watched my soul caress the one I wished to know
Chimera I know you could feel my eagerness
Your apparition raised hurt quenching lips for me to kiss
Then
I awoke and good reason shone
As sense cast its light on the scene
Then came the dawn and you were gone
Last night I had too much to dream
Your
eyes filled with the love I wished that there could be
within my lonely heart your spectre soothing me
I know I should not let delusion trick my will
This gentle comfort if believed can surely do me ill
This girl to whom your secrets you disclosed you fool
Your too accepting heart believes she could be true
You compose for this fall back into solitude
Then self inflicted every time feel cheated and abused
Then
no surprise good reason drawn
Over unfounded hopes I had seen
Then came the dawn and you were gone
Last night I had too much to dream
